I can’t believe I forgot to add a map of my mountain bike ride in Hawaii! Shame! Shame! Okay, well here’s a ride report, too. This trail was quite a departure from my local rides. The biggest difference is going to be elevation, of course. This trail starts at around 2800ft and goes up to almost 3500ft, whereas my local trails only have 100ft of change between the lowest and highest points. Read more... I recently returned from a weeklong vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii to celebrate surviving acute myeloid leukemia. The day I learned of my diagnosis, I told my wife that when I got better, we’d go to Hawaii. She thought I was joking at the time (or perhaps delusional) but I showed her! We made it happen, and had an amazing trip. Read more... (774 words, 1 image, estimated 3:06 mins reading time)
I want to try to have a series of wildlife photo posts, and here’s my first official post in that series.
I captured these photos a few weeks ago. Every year in May and June, I get toads in the front. Wow, I’ve gotta say this thing looks WAY cool. I was doing some searching online for some kind of mp3 player that has enough storage to fit my whole music collection. I know the iPod classic has a big storage option, but I don’t like Apple, especially the iPod/iPhone. I wanted something else. Enter Archos 5 Internet Tablet. With up to 500GB of storage, it certainly fits the primary need I had. Read more... (716 words, 1 image, estimated 2:52 mins reading time)

For my second anniversary, my wife and I went to Mammoth Cave National Park. Overall it was a good trip. My only complaint relates to the HEAVY horse use this park gets…the horses destroy the trails at stream crossings and other wet spots.
