It’s been a long time since I’ve gone for a midday ride. It’s been so horrendously hot it’s not been worth it. But with Tropical Storm Lee in the area, we got clouds, wind, and cooler temperatures. It’s been awhile since my last post. Grad school is keeping me busy. So are trips to Schlitterbahn and yard work.

As I’ve posted before, I got my hands on a new GoPro HD Hero recently. My first “video” wasn’t much – essentially just a backyard test. I was supposed to get some real footage on Friday, but a mechanical problem halted that. So, Monday was my next opportunity, and I took advantage. I got to get some ride footage of the local trails. In 2008 I started a little tradition of doing a trip to ride my mountain bike for my birthday. In 2009 I was not well enough for such a trip so I had to skip that year. This year, I chose to ride at Cypress Bend Resort on the trails they just opened this year. It’s about the same distance from me as Tyler State Park and I was hopeful that there might be some good trails there to add to my options. Read more...
